  1. How has summer reading been for your child? It is important to keep reading during the summer months. A goal of 2 hours per week is sufficient to keep their minds developing. Your child should be able to choose the books that they want to read. That is because they will feel that they have input in their reading. It should be fun for them to read. Set aside a time when you can read while your child is reading. If a child sees their parents reading, they are more likely to emulate this. Do you have a child that is too young to read? Little ones should also be reading 2 hours per week or have books read to them. They will love the quiet time they get to spend with you. Have them describe what is happening in the pictures. Can they tell you what just happened on the page you just read. This exercise will help them develop their comprehension skills. We would like to hear how summer reading has been for you. Share your thoughts, comments and ideas.
