It is getting close to time for back to school for the kids. I hope all of your children are enjoying their summer vacation as it begins to wind to an end. I am sure that all the parents loved spending that extra time with their children. The time that they do not get during the school year. We would like to hear what you as parents do to get ready for the start of the new school year. What do your kids do to get ready for the next grade? It is always interesting to hear all the different stories from each family about how they prepare for the upcoming school year which is only a few weeks away. I will start by telling my story as to how our family prepares for back to school. I begin the transformation with 2 weeks of vacation left. There is no more staying up late. They have a bed time of 8:30 during the school year. This will give them 10 hours of sleep before they need to get up and get ready for school. I start serving lunch at the time they will be eating in school. I also eliminate the naps or resting after lunch. This will train their bodies to be awake all day. I still continue with reading, math and other educational material until the last 3 days of vacation. The last 3 days are used for resting the brain before they start the school year. I am probably forgetting one or two other things that I do, but these are the major changes that seem to make the transition a little easier for them. Please let us know how you approach this. This should be fun!
Take a break from reading! Did I just actually say that? Yes, I guess I did. The fouth of July holiday is coming up. This is a great time to let your child take a short break, emphasis on short. Does that mean to just let your child sit around and do nothing for a few day? Certainly not! This gives you the opportunity to switch things up a little bit. Your child will enjoy the change of pace. After all, they deserve to have a little break. What should I have my child do if they are not reading you ask? An age appropiate workbook is super for a quick change of pace. You can find these practically anywhere. Even most drug stores and grocery stores carry them now. So give you child a well deserved break.
